Random Thoughts on Life as a Middle-Aged Single Gal

Sometimes I have entirely too much time in my head.

My brain has always been overactive but as I’m finding, more so now that I’m over 50.

Random Thoughts on Life as a Middle-Aged Single Gal

random thoughts

Bear with me as I unload a bunch of randomness on ya. I’m sure you might be able to relate if you an over 50 kind of gal! 😉

Women often think about the “what if’s”. I think about it more now that I’m single than I did before. I guess it’s one of those things I took for granted.

But it’s just not the what if’s! It the “why’s” and the “how’s” also. If you’re like me and you enjoy laying in bed watching tv before actually going asleep, some of these random thoughts can flood your head and you’ll never get to sleep.

Let’s take a peek at some of the things I’ve been obsessing over lately.

Why does it have to be so hard to find quality people these days? Is it because we are midlife and most, if not all of us, have some kind of baggage?

Online dating sites are a big crock. Ok, I’ll admit, way back in the day I met my now ex husband online. 😉 SEE WHAT I MEAN?  I tried them when I got separated and I did go on a few dates and two like 6-month things and they suck! Ok, I didn’t think they sucked at first but they ended up the same as my marriage! Over!!

The primping for going on dates is too funny. Think about it. We get dolled up to go on a date. The dude likes us until they wake up beside us with bed hair and no-makeup or smeared make-up. Or they like you until they get you naked and see how much your Spanx was holding together. Mind you, they could have used some Spanx but we didn’t judge. 😉

The whole “friends with benefits” thing. Yeah, that.

Our bodies My Body

I’d love to know where my cute little butt went and when this obnoxious, not-so-curvy, dimpled thing showed up!

Why does our skin elasticity have to go? I loved when my boobs were so cute and perky! Ok, cute really is DD or DDD but I thought they were! Now that saggage has moved in, I find myself not loving them as much as I once did. I mean, exercising can be a major safety issue!

The good old days of being able to drive an hour or two without a potty break are long gone. I only work about 20 minutes from home and I make sure I go to the pot before I leave for fear I might not make it inside my house. What the hell is up with that?

Blogging and Social Media

Writing this blog post with carefully creating and finding the right pictures is a pain in the butt. I mean, I remember back when I was microblogging on Tumblr. It was so much fun. A few sentences and a picture that didn’t have to be a certain size and such. It was almost like Twitter on crack!

Having to jump through hoops in our blogs posts just to have them seen by others, or to even entice someone to click through to your blog is a pain in the butt. Seriously, do you know how many great posts I know I’ve missed simply because the titles sucked?

I miss the days of jumping on Twitter, being my favorite social media platform, and just chit-chatting with my tweeps like all day long. Nowadays, it’s so hard to keep a convo going because tweeps always have other platforms to check, blogs to comment on, and content to write on their own. Let alone, their side hustles. No one has time! Hell, I remember sitting on the thrown and tweeting on my Blackberry! So much fun!

Life in General

This could be a major one but I’ll keep it random for now.

I just don’t understand the hatred in the world. Seriously, I do have hate but these are for people non-humanoids who have committed heinous acts on animals.

I also have a serious dislike for those people non-humanoids who think it’s alright to go kamikaze on others just because they are angry with the world.

I don’t understand hypocrites and believe me, I know you know them and see them. Practice what you preach peeps!

And lastly, I wonder why I felt the need to type of these random things only for about 4 people to read them and think “This girl is whack!”

It’s all yours! Share some randomness!

  1. Oh, I get where you’re coming from, sister. I guess at this point we just need to keep our sense of humor and keep going. It helps when you have a tribe of women who you can talk to and laugh about all this stuff. And I get the social media. I just don’t understand SEO and algorithms and all that stuff and nor do I want to!
